The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) is a voluntary humanitarian organization to protect human life and health in India. It is a part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Hence, it shares the fundamental principles of the same foundation bodies.
The Society’s mission is to provide relief in times of disasters, emergencies and also to promote healthcare while caring for vulnerable people and communities. It has a network of over 700 branches throughout India. The society uses the Red cross as an emblem in common with other International Red Cross Societies.
Volunteering has been at the very heart of the Indian Red Cross Society since its inception in 1920, with the society having Youth and Junior Volunteering programme’s. The Society is closely associated with the St.John Ambulance in India.
The Red Cross Society, Chennai District Branch has its head office in Montieth Road, Egmore. It hosts a Office, Quarters and Hospital within. The District Collector of Chennai is the President, and Dr.Harish L. Mehta is the Honourable Chairman for the Chennai Branch.
The Chennai branch boasts of various accomplishments over the years and a few of the activites are as in the following slides.

The AGM of IRCS, Chennai Red Cross was held on 21.11.2020 at NSP Vidyabeedam Singarampillai Matric.School, Villivakkam, Chennai-49. Mr.N.P.Kailash, VP presided over the AGM. The Annual Report and Accounts of the society were approved.
